Julie Feeney
Julie Feeney has accomplished much in her young life. She has earned 3 Master’s degrees, including one in Music and Media Technologies from Trinity College in Dublin. Not only did she study at Trinity College, she also studied at The Royal Conservatory at The Hague. She has been a professional singer for the National Chamber Choir in Ireland for 5 years, plays 10 instruments, has orchestrated for and conducted the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra string section, and was commissioned by BBC Northern Ireland to orchestrate for the Ulster orchestra. She has worked at the primary, secondary, and university level in music education as well as published 3 education CD ROMs. If that wasn’t enough, she also works part time as a model.
Her first album, 13 Songs won the Choice Music Prize. She also played 11 of the instruments. Her second album, Pages, has been nominated for Irish Album of the Year for 2009. On this album she sang, composed, and produced the songs and conducted the Irish Chamber Orchestra on all the instrumental parts. Julie spent 5 weeks writing the words to the songs and another 4 months writing the instrumental music, composing and arranging the score. In an epic 6 hour recording session, Julie conducted the full orchestra for the album. It was the first time that she heard the orchestration that she had written.
Julie Feeney presented a radio series on RTE’s Radio 1. You can find the playlist at:
